K2 Management secures trio of owner’s engineer contracts in Vietnam
K2 Management has secured three owner’s engineer mandates for wind projects in Vietnam. These three orders alone – two onshore wind and one offshore - will see 240 MW of wind capacity installed in the country, as the market in Vietnam continues to grow.
BIM Group, in collaboration with AC Energy, has appointed K2 Management in an owner’s engineer role for its 150 MW Phan Rang onshore wind farm in Vietnam. The team will deliver tendering support, specification and review of the geotechnical and topographical survey, foundation design support and preparation of quality documentation.
Huong Tan Wind Power Plant JSC and Tan Linh Wind Power Plant JSC, have also appointed K2 Management in an owner’s engineer role to deliver tendering, project and construction management packages as well as back office engineering support for two of its pre-construction projects in Quang Tri Province, totaling 66 MW. The pre-construction scope includes tendering support, civil design and preparation of quality documentation. In the construction phase, the team will undertake a project management role, overseeing construction and providing engineering support through to completion, expected in Q2 2021.
Another well-known Vietnamese company has engaged K2 Management to deliver owner’s engineer support on its 30 MW nearshore project, in Ben Tre Province. The pre-construction phase scope includes: energy yield assessment and layout, tendering support including technical specifications, contract preparation, evaluation and negotiation and full owner’s engineer support during the construction phase. The team will also deliver quality support.
For all three projects, K2 Management will act as project manager, providing construction management, engineering support and factory inspections and tests during their construction phase, through to commercial operation date (COD), all expected in 2021.
Patrick Architta, Business Development Director at K2 Management in Asia, commented: “Securing these three owner’s engineer contracts is a great way to start the new year and is testament to our extensive work in APAC, which combines local knowledge and experience with expertise from mature markets across the globe.“
Mr Huy, CEO of BIM Group Energy, said: “After successful projects in solar, BIM Group is continuing its development in renewable energy, by investing in wind. With the experience of K2 Management in the region we are confident to complete our project within the challenging planning constraints, respecting safety, quality and international standards.”
Mr. Patrice Clausse, Chief Operating Advisor of AC Energy and Director of AC Renewables International, said: “As AC Energy continues to look at ways to significantly scale up its renewable energy portfolio, we turn to reliable partners like K2 Management to provide solutions to our most complex energy development challenges. With decades-long experience in sustainable energy projects, we are confident that K2 Management will propel AC Energy towards its goal to achieve 5 GW of attributable renewable energy capacity by 2025.”
“We’re delighted to be working on these projects and will look forward to a great cooperation, contributing towards the growth of the Vietnamese wind market.”
K2 Management delivered full scope owner’s engineer services on the two phases of the Dam Nai onshore wind project in Vietnam, which became operational in 2019.
