Owner's engineer and asset manager on onshore wind projects in Pakistan

K2 Management’s double appointment in Pakistan

K2 Management has secured two mandates to deliver technical expertise for onshore wind projects in Pakistan.

Developer, Artistic Milliners, has appointed K2 Management as owner’s engineer, to deliver full technical advisory throughout the construction phase of the 50MW Artistic Wind Power Project in Jhimpir, Pakistan.

The scope of work includes the review of detailed engineering and design, project management and site supervision during the 16-month EPC execution period until the commercial operation date, expected in late 2021.

Ehtisham Akhtar, Head of Technical at Artistic Energy (Pvt.) Limited, commented: “Artistic Milliners is well recognized in the Pakistan renewables industry, thanks to our large pipeline of clean energy and clear commitment to improving Pakistan’s energy outlook.”

“K2 Management’s broad yet detailed understanding of delivering onshore wind projects will support us in delivering a project that fits the requirements of international lenders.”

K2 Management has also been appointed by Zephyr Power to deliver asset management for its operational 50MW onshore wind farm, outside Karachi, Pakistan.

The scope includes auditing the existing management setup and production of the wind farm, which became operational in 2019, and introduce best practice and procedures to maximize the performance and profitability of the wind farm over its 20-year expected lifetime.

CEO and Owner at Zephyr Power, Kumayl Khaleeli, said: “This is our first experience owning and operating a wind project and for that reason we want to explore the best way of optimizing the technical and financial performance of our wind farm. Appointing K2 Management in this role will not only give us access to technical expertise, but insights into international and established practices in project operations that we otherwise wouldn’t learn.”

Patrick Architta, President, Projects Asia at K2 Management, said: “We are proud to be supporting Artistic Milliners in developing its project. In delivering technical, health & safety and coordination excellence as part of our scope, we follow our regional vision.”

“The asset management scope of work on the Zephyr project also shows our long-term ambitions and complete end-to-end offer to help our clients deliver better energy projects.”

“Both projects are contributing to the Pakistan’s long-term goal of injecting more wind and solar PV into the country’s energy mix and we are happy to be part of that.”

With growing demand, a focus on bringing more solar and wind energy to Pakistan will improve the security and reliability of supply as well as reduce the average cost of electricity.
