Day in the Life: Denise Li, Project Coordinator, Projects ASIA
The nature of our work in the renewable energy sector is incredibly diverse, and with multiple teams across the globe specialising in a range of areas, we’re showcasing a behind the scenes look at what some of our colleagues get up to day to day.
In the latest instalment of our ‘Day in the Life’ blog series, we sat down with Denise Li, Project Coordinator - Projects, from our APAC office based in Taipei. Denise supports the K2 Management team in offshore wind EIA and permitting regulatory framework, and is responsible for multiple offshore and onshore wind and solar projects since 2021.

Denise starts her working day a little earlier than usual, typically arriving at the office before 8am to make tea or coffee and set herself up. Denise starts each day by creating a structured schedule, checking tasks carried over from the previous day(s) and running through emails to consider new tasks and prioritise accordingly.
Denise’s tasks vary considerably given the varied nature of her role. “I’m responsible for multiple different areas of work which makes each day different and enjoyable,” Denise shares. “I’m responsible for a variety of things including due diligence, development feasibility analysis, permitting / EIA process, the preparation of auction documents and document management at both pre-establishment and development phase.”
“I’ve also been involved in a range of national and international regulatory tasks and applicable standard compliance checks. Plus, I also undertake environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) duties,” Denise adds. At times, she also liaises with other teams in the EMEA region alongside multiple projects across APAC, and therefore needs to structure her day to allow for time differences.

Lunchtime is a communal affair with Denise and her colleagues heading out to grab food before returning to eat together in the office kitchen. “Normally I’ll go around the neighbourhood and see what’s about, but I often buy lunch from our regular go-to places like a local bento shop or noodle place,” Denise adds. “After lunch I also usually have a quick power nap to boost energy for the afternoon!”
From 1pm onwards, Denise continues making her way through her morning task list alongside a selection of internal meetings about the primary project(s) in hand. “We also use these meetings to align on our project work, decide on how tasks are distributed amongst team members, and our next steps,” comments Denise. “In the afternoon, our team in Taiwan catches up with the EMEA team.”
The variety of her work is something that Denise enjoys most about her role. “With the number of different projects we have globally, I get to support diverse work from across APAC and EMEA which I find challenging and a good opportunity to learn new things and develop my skills,” shares Denise. “K2 Management is a really flexible workplace and there are always opportunities to learn new things, and I find that my skills can be well applied across the workplace.”
Denise enjoys the collaborative nature of her team and appreciates how each team member is able to learn from one another, sharing: “Most of us are quiet but very friendly, and do not hesitate to share what they’re doing in each of their projects”. She is keen to further develop her skills where possible, with a desire to engage even further with various environmental and social project scopes. This includes undertaking a range of training where possible - something that K2 Management supports each colleague with. “I’d like to take up a course to strengthen my technical capabilities,” comments Denise.
