With the support of K2 Management, Sund & Bælt succeeded to build the entire project in record time without any Health & Safety incidents and within budget.
The wind farm was built to supply green electricity for the large tunnel and bridge project - The Storebaelt fixed Link - in Denmark. The project was built under a multi-contracting regime where Vestas was responsible for the design, delivery and installation of the 7 turbines each with a capacity of 3 MW. The wind farm was constructed in 2009 in what was at the time the fastest construction of any offshore wind farm.
K2 Management supported Sund & Bælt, which is the Owner of the Wind Farm, in a role as Owner's Engineer and Project Manager for the wind turbine part of the project. The main tasks carried out by K2 Management on this project were:
- Negotiation of the TSA and FSA contracts
- Project Management of the turbine part of the project
- Overall project management in corporation with other consulting engineers
- Turbine component quality monitoring and testing
- Audit of Vestas HSEQ performance
- On-site construction management
- Turbine installation and commissioning management
- Taking Over tests verifications
- As-built documentation review
With the support of K2 Management, Sund & Bælt succeeded to build the entire project in record time without any Health & Safety incidents and within budget.
The wind farm is today one of the world's most efficiently producing offshore wind farms.
In August 2014 K2 Management supported Sund & Bælt in the analysis of the market for the tendering of service contract for the wind turbines.
